Valentine's Day Snowshoe

Event Information:
Since the hiker leader's wife will be out of town Valentine's Day, he gets to go play in the snow. Join leader Winston Walker for another fun outdoor trek. We'll snowshoe 2 miles in Pine Valley Ranch, in Jefferson County Open Space, near Buffalo Creek.The ranch borders both sides of the Platte River. We'll catch a view the castle and observatory from a distance as we hike the south fork of the South Platte River and a lovely cliff overlooking the ranch and below. Class 'A' easy to moderate, very casual snowshoe activity

Beckwourth Fun Day

Event Information:
Join us for a wonderful winter outdoor adventure that includes tubing, airboarding and sledding at the Colorado Adventure Park in Fraser, Colorado near Winter Park. Enjoy a day of fun at the newest adventure park in the Fraser Valley, the Colorado Adventure Park. Colorado Adventure Park tubing terrains vary from slow and easy, to fast and wild. Airboarding is the next step up in fast and wild rides where only your nerves will limited your riding adventure.

Cost: Varies based on the ride type and time duration. Tube for $16/hour or Airboard for $20/hour or sled for free if you bring our own sled.

Snowshoe Trail Ridge Road

Event Information:
Our snow shoe trek starts at the closed gate (elevation 9,800 feet) at Trail Ridge Road. We will snowshoe 2 to 4 miles. Class 'A,' moderate trek. Expect windy, snow blown conditions on the road. Meet at 9AM, depart at 9:15AM and expect to return around 5:30PM.

Snowshoe South Boulder Creek

Event Information:
Join us on a snowshoe trek of South Boulder Creek. We'll hike 3 to 4 miles in the lovely South Boluder Creek Valley in the wilderness area south the East Portal Moffat Tunne near Crater Lake anbd Heart Lakes. Starting elevation is 9,200 ft. with maximum elevation turn around point at 10,100 ft. A side trail option is the Forest Lake trail. Class A, moderate to difficult trek.

Teller Farm Trail Hike

Event Information:
Winston Walker will lead Beckwourth members on a 4 mile hike on the Teller Farm Trail past Teller Lake. The area is located in the City of Boulder Open Space and we expect to see cattle grazing farmland. Class 'A' easy. We'll meet at 8:45AM; depart at 9AM; and return around 2PM.

Beckwourth Board and Member Meeting

Event Information:
Meeting room at Ford-Warren Library, 2825 High Street in Denver at 6pm. We will have 1 1/2 hours allocated for the meeting, so please come prepared to work on each division's mission statement and purpose, as well as the tentative schedule of events for the remainder of 2010.

Babi Yar Memorial Walk and BBQ

Event Information:
Participants will meet in South Denver at a Beckwourth Member's home and walk 2 miles to Babi Yar Park. Founded in 1971, Babi Yar Park is a memorial for the thousands of Jews, gypsies, Ukrainians and others massacred from 1941-1943 at the Babi Yar Ravine near Kiev.

After the 2 mile walk back, we'll enjoy a potluck bbq. Please bring a side to share. For those with diet restrictions, bring a side that you can eat. Class 'A' easy.

We'll meet at 8:45AM, depart at 9AM and return about 1PM.

Re-Enactor Workshop

Event Information:
A workshop for present, former and interested re-enactors. The workshop will include information about early Denver history, characters and character development, dramatization practice, first person practice, timeline creation, and costume repair. Clear Creek Canyon Plank Walk

Event Information:
Take in the views of Clear Creek Canyon with hike leader Winston Walker. The canyon is located west of Golden, Colo. We'll bushwhack through overgrowth in an abandoned water aqueduct and journey along a narrow boardwalk plank constructed above the aqueduct. The hike is NOT for anyone having a fear of heights. Class B, difficult, 3-4 mile hike.

Northwest Denver Urban Ramble

Event Information:
Join Winston Walker, Teri Sewell and Andrea Juarez on a 5 to 6 mile Urban Ramble in Northwest Denver. We'll be walking lower Highland's "LoHi" neighborhood and enjoy an array of sights - diverse architecture, mom-and-pop businesses, community gardens, a farmer's market, as well as the walking the trails along the South Platte River and Cherry Creek.

Bring cash and a fanny pack/other bag to carry your interesting finds from yard sales and local businesses. Also make sure to bring water and wear good walking shoes, shades, sun hat and sunscreen.

We are meeting at 8AM and expect to complete the walk by 2PM. A level, moderate but be prepared for walking on pavement and hilly streets.

Winks Lodge Work Day

Event Information:
Volunteers are needed for the annual spring cleaning at Winks Lodge. We'll be cleaning up cob webs and getting the Lodge ready for summer activities and fundraisers.

Work Day Task List: Exterior cosmetic work on the Lodge and to the grounds such as minor painting, removing fence posts, clearing the driveway. Inside work includes miscellaneous spring cleaning - vacuuming, dusting, cleaning the refrigerator, washing interior windows, etc.

Bedding Needed: If any members have sheets, blankets or quilts for single, double or bunk beds to donate, please let us know.

Centennial Cone Park

Event Information:
Join Beckwourth Outdoors on a 4-mile hike in the Centennial Cone Park - a Jefferson County Open Space Park where we'll hike on the Travois trail. Class 'B' moderate to difficult, with very steep, rocky grades. We'll meet at 8AM and expect to return around 3:30PM.
